The Lord’s Prayer

When I was younger (from about 8 until 12 years of age) I was a devout christian.  I was a member of the school christian club and always got top marks in scripture studies.  The boarding school I went to was christian and we used to say the Lord’s prayer twice daily.  It is therefore a delight to rediscover it and its translation from its original Aramaic.

Christians steeped in the dogma of the church need to be given access to the some of the older writings as these more accurately reflect Jesus’ message.

Praying_hands_upThe Prayer To Our Father in the Original Aramaic
Abwûn O cosmic Birther, from whom the breath of life comes,
d’bwaschmâja who fills all realms of sound, light and vibration.
Nethkâdasch schmach May Your light be experienced in my utmost holiest.
Têtê malkuthach. Your Heavenly Domain approaches.
Nehwê tzevjânach aikâna d’bwaschmâja af b’arha. Let Your will come true in the universe (all that vibrates) just as on earth (that is material and dense).
Hawvlân lachma d’sûnkanân jaomâna. Give us wisdom
(understanding, assistance)
for our daily need,

Waschboklân chaubên wachtahên aikâna daf chnân schwoken l’chaijabên. detach the
fetters of faults that bind us, (karma) like we let go the guilt of others.

Wela tachlân l’nesjuna Let us not be lost in superficial things (materialism, common temptations),
ela patzân min bischa. but let us be freed from that what keeps us off from our true purpose.
Metol dilachie malkutha wahaila wateschbuchta l’ahlâm almîn. From You comes the all-working will, the lively strength to act,
the song that beautifies all and renews itself from age to age.
Amên. Sealed in trust, faith and truth. (I confirm with my entire being)

Expanding Earth

I have discovered interesting stuff about the earth expanding.  If combined with gaia theory of the earth as a living organisim then this means she is still growing.  Our earth is a young planet still growing in size, seems like she currently has a pretty out of control infestation of homo sapiens.  I  wonder how we will cope with the delousing…

From:
http://sciencewa.net.au/science_archive.asp?pg=30&NID=81

THE controversial theories of one of Australia’s most eminent
geologists – the late Professor Sam Carey – have been revived and
adapted to explain why dinosaurs grew to the gigantic creatures that
dominated Earth 65 million years ago.

The new theory – building on Prof Carey’s ideas
that the Earth is expanding – suggests that when the dinosaurs first
began to appear 248 million years ago, Earth was a much smaller planet
than it is today and had a much weaker gravity.

The theory suggests it was the weaker gravity
that encouraged animals to develop to a gigantic size and enabled
dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus Rex to weigh seven tonnes and tower 6.5
metres.

Prof Carey was the foundation Professor of
Geology at the University of Tasmania and became internationally famous
in the 1960s for his theories on “continental drift” and global
tectonics. In the 1970s, he broadened his theories to suggest that
tectonic plates move because the Earth is continually expanding.

Today the theory of an expanding Earth is still a
minority view but Stephen Hurrell, an engineering designer at Britain’s
Electricity Research Centre, has given it new currency.

Mr Hurrell has long been interested in the
effects of scale on the engineering of structures – particularly when
it comes to dinosaurs.

For example, other scientists have suggested that
T.Rex would have been so large and heavy that he would have found it
difficult to move. In fact some experts have calculated that T.Rex’s
leg muscles would not have allowed the animal to move fast enough to
run after prey. And had T.Rex slipped and fallen during a “chase”, the
huge weight could have caused a broken leg or massive internal injuries.

However, a small but persistent group of earth scientists argue that
the spreading sea floors and wandering continents are best explained in terms of an expanding
earth
(Carey 1976, Carey 1983a, Carey 1988, Crawford 1986, Glikson 1980, King 1983,
Owen 1983a, Steiner 1977). In its most radical form this model assumes that sea-floor
spreading is entirely compensated by the increasing area of an expanding earth so that no
subduction occurs (Carey 1976, p. 14; Carey 1988, ch. 13; Crawford 1986). Some variations
on this incorporate modest subduction and collision along with the expansion of the earth
(Owen 1983b). In spite of the fact that a number of times the expanding earth is said to
have been discredited (Kerr 1987; Smith 1976, 1977, 1978; Wood 1979) the expanding earth
remains as an alternative model to plate tectonics.

Serving God

TigerbalmredSometimes it is really apparant that you are being used by God. We are all of course being used by God every moment of every day but the mechanism is not blatantly obvious.

One particularily striking moment happened to me on Christmas eve 2004 – when headed out to go shopping in Hackney. Just before leaving the house I packed a jar of tiger balm into my shopping bag.  The jar had been lying around for a while and had not yet been used.

On my way through Hackney a guy in a wheelchair pulled up in front of me and said "Please help me.".  His name was Martin and he wanted a push.  It turned out he had hurt his wrist and could not push himself all the way back to his care home (Martin is mentally as well as physically handicapped).

While pushing Martin back we chatted about how he had hurt his wrist and what had happened.  Then he came out with,
"Do you know Tiger Balm"
me, "Sure I do."
Martin, "I like Tiger Balm it helps with my wrist. I was looking for some but it is too expensive"
At this moment my first thought was ‘Wow. I am totally being used here. I am officially God’s bitch.’ Then after a moment of being somewhat indignant it became apparant how sweet this was.  So I pushed Martin back to his care home, rubbed tiger balm on his wrist, gave him the jar and sat with him while he had a cigarette before continuing with the shopping.

Martin, of course, was totally unsurprised I happened to have Tiger Balm in my bag to give to him.

So getting back to the root of the question here, for everyone on the spiritual path, if you react to a given experience with negative emotions, then it is "useful" for you, and you will continue to repeat it until it is "no longer necessary." If you want to gauge whether a particular experience is ‘useful,’ consider whether you have a negative reaction to it or not. If you have not accepted it, then you are still getting "use" out of it, and it will keep indefinitely repeating.

The irony of going through your own "dark night of the soul" is that you think you’ve got it worse than anyone else – but EVERYONE has to do it at one point or another. Those who are Ascending more quickly are having deeper, sharper "dark nights of the soul" at an earlier point than everyone else will, so that by the time it becomes a more widespread phenomenon, those who have already been through it will be able to help the others.

That\’s not the end of Campbell\’s outline of the archetypes. Once you

the archetype to truly be satisfied, you improve the world in some way
as a result of your efforts. Very few movies that outline the archetypes
ever really work the "Return" piece – but a notable example of one that
does is the third Lord of the Rings film, "Return of the King."

Anyway, I need to minister to the increasingly demanding requests of the

Clark Ashton Smith

Wow – what fantastic imagery.  This is the opening paragraph of his story "The Abominations of Yondo":

The sand of the deserts of Yondo is not the sand of other deserts; for Yondo lies nearest of all to the world’s rim; and strange winds, blowing from a gulf no astronomer may hope to fathom, have sown its ruinious fields with the gray dust of corroding planets, the black ashes of extinguished suns. The dark, orb-like mountains which rise from its wrinkled and pitted plain are not all its own, for some are fallen asteroids half-buried in that abysmal sand.  Things have crept in from nether space, whose incursion is forbid by the gods of all proper and well-ordered lands; but there are no such gods in Yondo, where live the hoary genii of stars abolished , and decrepit demons left homeless by the destruction of antiquated hells.

Mentor/Guru/Teacher

Sometimes (like now) it feels like a mentor (prefer this word to teacher or guru) would be really useful.  The problem is that to date the connection never seemed to be "perfect" and in this area one is reluctant to settle for "good enough".

The person I learned the most from in an esoteric sense was an ex-lover but that was not a  student/teacher dynamic. The two teacher/guru/mentor types who have come closest for me were Osho (now dead & when alive too many other disciples so no personal attention) & Wayne Liquorman (lives in a different country, very advaita not a lot of magick or crazy celebration) – with honorable mentions to Josh Geller, Ramesh Balsekar and Maitreya Ishwara. I feel total love and gratitude for all of them but they were not "it".

Perhaps the solution is to be like Ramana and find a mountain

I for one am deeply bothered by the all-too common misperception of
the highest degree of spiritual attainment — most often labeled
‘satori’ or ‘samadhi’ — as an encounter with the ‘blank nothingness’
or ‘emptiness’ of an ineffable Wholly Other.

I wont deny that limit experiences do indeed absolve the aspirant’s
consciousness of the bric-a-brac clutter of ordinary waking life. But
it seems to me that much of what is referred to as states of high
trance or mystic realization is more akin to a mountaineer mounting to
the peak of his or her chosen capstone — and then (oddly enough)
closing his or her eyes to the breathtaking expanse above, around, and
below.

Hence the ‘nothingness,’ the ‘blank emptiness.’ Somehow in all the
strenuous endeavor of clambering to the tip of the pyramid, the
aspirant’s cognition, before alert and impeccable and intuitive to a
fault, has in some unforeseen way atrophied. (One simply can’t see the
forest for the trees!)

Now, I don’t mean to denigrate the pure astonishment which must
invariably accompany our trek to the precipice of the Eternal. Far from
it. — Crashing through to what lies outside and above the microcosmic
envelope of one’s waking consciousness almost always results in a
temporary obliteration of one’s habitual pattern identity. The world
becomes suffused with a blinding radiance, a Light almost suffocating
in its intensity, rendering one’s usual conception of selfhood null and
void.

It is perfectly understandable that many find themselves easily lost
in this seemingly boundless, somehow affectionate glow. One has spent
long hours diligently skating the ice that customarily limits our world
of fluid matter from pushing up into the world of windy Spirit. Etching
ever more intricate fractal outlines into the seemingly impenetrable
periphery, searching for a fault into the Unknowable, a rupture into
the Ineffable.

And then at last the glassy veneer gives way, the ice splintering
into a dizzy maze of incandescent explosions. Heaven itself has been
breached — the once impermeable permafrost of the Beyond collapsing
into a sun-drenched shower of millions of dazzling fireflies.

Its almost enough to stop the heart, this instantaneous annihilation
of our consensual waking reality. For after the bewildering tumult
attending our burglary into the Treasure-House of Consciousness has
been stilled, after the thunder of fracturing ice has subsided, we are
confronted with an uncanny stillness, an awful silence unlike any ever
endured in waking life. This absolute calm is such a profound
antithesis to the clamorous crashing that attended our final break with
consensual reality that it initially appears as a blank nothingness —
an emptiness wholly Other and uniquely in contrast to our
three-dimensional substantiality.

And it is here, at this critical impasse, that most aspirants lose
awareness of the phenomenon entirely. Swallowed up all in all by its
inviting phosphorescence, most surrender to the complete lack of
self-identity that it encourages — and so lapse into utter
unconsciousness, acquiescing their finger-hold on the spiritual
mountain-top, succumbing once more to the illusions and fallacies of
our waterlogged waking consciousness.

The real trick, I believe, the secret technique, is to not abandon
self-identity to the winds — but to identify oneself instead with the
Light that fills and surrounds you within and without. Declare your
presence anew as a Being of imaginal brilliance. Shed the thorny shell
of nihilism and be embraced by the ethereal glow of ‘Omnisism’ instead.
Above all, remain conscious enough to realize that this effervescent
illumination you now find yourself adrift in is not far apart and
distantly removed from the world of waking life — but is rather its
most fundamental and informative strata.

It is not an ‘empty nothingness’ we are confronted with at the peak
of spiritual attainment. That is simply a common misperception arising
from the sudden lack of personal selfhood, from having our little
personal pattern identity temporarily restitched into the seamless
network of the world’s causal Hyperreality.
Its dangerously easy to lose one’s lucidity when that ‘lack’ is felt so
overwhelmingly. It usually takes several attempts (and perhaps several
years) before the aspirant can master his or her own astonishment to
the point that he or she is capable of remaining fully conscious even
though the former boundaries of his or her pattern identity have been
dissolved. Its very easy to feel overwhelmed, and very difficult to
ride the crest of the upward momentum to its ultimate resolution. But
it can be done.

Its akin to a single drop of water falling back into the ocean —
what is really happening is that you have returned to your true
element. The boundaries where personal selfhood formerly ended and the
rest of the universe began are relinquished — and a ghostly ‘lack’ is
felt at that moment. And this misperceived ‘nothingness’ of self is the
last illusion to shatter, the final Rubicon to cross, a vaporous mirage
at last dissolved by becoming fully identified with the all-subsuming
Light in all of its splendid omnipresence.

It is only then that the final barrier between Man and God will
fall. Not by mere tasting of the sublime ‘blankness’ — but by
transcending the nothingness of the little personal self in favor of
the vivid tapestry of the Collective Divine.

* * *

In the above I hope I have demonstrated that the ‘blank
nothingness’ or ‘emptiness’ commonly held to be the peak experience of
the Absolute is in all actuality only the last vestige of the vanishing
personal self.

Therefore, in contrast to the entrenched nihilism so popular today in discussions of spiritual practices, I propose an ‘Omnisism’ which instead restores the proper all-inclusiveness to the fully conscious experience of the Divine.
